Mission Statement

The primary goals of Methacton United’s intramural soccer program are to promote and foster a love of soccer, while teaching basic soccer skills in a fun, positive environment. We emphasize skill development, sportsmanship, and teamwork.

Coaches: We Need YOU!

Volunteer coaches are a vital part of the intramural soccer experience. To help assist coaches and provide the best experience for our players, we provide pre-season coaches meetings and trainings as well as handout materials to help guide coaches through their practices and games.

NEW! Beginning in 2017, all intramural coaches will receive a full refund of their players registration fees. Thats right: your kid plays for FREE!

All coaches MUST comply with the volunteer clearance requirements mandated by Pennsylvania state law. Those volunteering as head coaches also receive a discount on their childs registration fees.

Program Descriptions

At the youngest ages, through our Pee Wees and Juniors programs, we establish the fundamentals of the game in a safe, fun environment. As children age through the program, more advanced concepts are introduced, commensurate with the level of play.

At U7 through U9, players have the opportunity to begin bridging into the more advanced travel program through our Directors Development Program (DDP). Players who remain in the travel program see increasing levels of recreational play and development as they progress through the older age groups.

The following table describes the intramural programs available at each age group. Age groups not listed are incorporated with the next older age group listed. For example, U7 players are included in the U8 age group.

Age Group Program Description
Pee Wees
U5
Coed 50-minute academy-style training sessions to teach our youngest players the fundamentals of the game. Sessions are held on Saturday mornings at Arcola Middle School and run by Methacton Uniteds professional training staff. The curriculum focuses on basic skills development in a fun, positive environment.

NOTE: Players must have turned 4 by the season start date (Apr 1 or Sep 1). No exceptions will be made to this rule.
Juniors
U6
Coed 1-hours academy-style training sessions run by Methacton Uniteds professional training staff. We keep the same fun, positive environment from Pee Wees, but introduce a more advanced curriculum centered around ball mastery.

Sessions are Saturday mornings at Arcola Middle School following the Pee Wees sessions.
U8 Small-sided 4v4 games at Redtail Park on Saturday mornings. Practice sessions are run by the team coach once per week, starting 1-2 weeks before the season begins.
U10 Small-sided 7v7 games with separate boys and girls teams. The boys will play against other Methacton United teams, while the girls will play against each other and intramural teams from West-Mont United.

All home games will be played at Heebner Park on Saturdays and Sunday. Practice sessions are run by the team coach once per week, starting 1-2 weeks before the season begins.
U12 Small-sided 9v9 games with separate boys and girls teams. Through a partnership with our neighbors at West-Mont, we are able to vary the competition and keep our boys and girls playing separately, which has proved to keep both groups playing longer.

Teams will play a mixed schedule of home and away games against West-Monts U12 intramural teams as well as the other Methacton United U12 teams. Games will be on Saturdays and Sundays.
U14 Coed teams play full-sided 11v11 weekend games against other area clubs in the Suburban Counties Soccer League (SCSL).
U16 Coed teams play full-sided 11v11 weekend games against other area clubs in the Suburban Counties Soccer League (SCSL).
U19 Coed teams play full-sided 11v11 weekend games against other area clubs in the Suburban Counties Soccer League (SCSL).
