U13 Girls Lightning Coach's Notes

Notes from the Coaching Staff
Play like you’re in first place/Practice like you are in second place!
Daily touches on the ball will give you the skills and confidence you need to succeed under pressure.  If you practice a move 1000 times before you try it in a game you will be able to execute it without thinking when the time comes to use it in a game situation.  Keep a ball with you whenever you can.  Juggle it, practice with it, make it do whatever you want it to.  Your game will continue to improve.

Notes from the Coaching Staff
Stretching and ACL injury prevention
Gentle warm-ups followed by proper stretching are imperative to training without injury.  The Lightning employs supervised plyometric training to increase strength and flexibility.   Ladies- stretching cold muscles can lead to injury. Be SURE to warm up first!

Notes from the Coaching Staff
Watch more Soccer!!!
Watching World Cup soccer, professional soccer and college soccer games on television is a great way to improve your understanding of the game.  When you are watching a game pick out the player who plays in your favorite position and watch what that player does on both offense and defense.  Pay close attention to what that player does when she has the ball AND ALSO pay attention to what she does when she does NOT have the ball.  Do this on a regular basis and you will see your game improve.
